Samson the cat lives in New York City. He weighs a whopping 28 lbs. He’s a very large Maine Coon, and perhaps the largest kitty in the big apple.
“Samson is a very sweet but a tough cat, who fits the term gentle giant very well,” Jonathan Zurbel, Samson’s human dad, told Love Meow.
This 4-year old Maine Coon is the size of a fully grown bobcat, and is 4 feet in length. “He is not fat or overweight but a strong Husky sturdy cat,” the cat dad said.
Samson may just be the largest cat in the world. Mymains Stewart Gilligan (Stewie, passed away in 2013), who was the current Guinness World record holder, was measured at 48.5 inches (4.04 feet).
Samson is a very active cat. He enjoys to play fetch, and likes to follow his humans from room to room, and sits near them to keep them company.
“When nobody is looking, he’d love to sleep in my bed and cuddle with me,” Zurbel told Love Meow. “He loves to have his belly pet.”
Zurbel adopted Samson from his brother who couldn’t dedicate the right amount of time to the cat. When Zurbel met Samson, it was definitely love at first sight.
Even as a kitten, he was large and in charge.
Now, Samson is 4 years old. and he has grown into the biggest cat they have ever seen. But, he’s also a big sweetheart.
Samson can barely fit in a normal sized stroller.
And, when he naps, he takes almost half of his human’s bed.
This huge kitty is Zurbel’s most loyal and affectionate friend.
“He waits by my (bedroom) door and comes in first thing in the morning to sit on my belly,” Zurbel said to Love Meow. “He purrs up a storm and he loves to massage my belly.”
“He is very kind and sweet and a very well behaved cat,” Zurbel told Love Meow. “He is a dream cat.”
Big kitty, big heart, big love! We love Samson! Share with friends!
