In the summer of 2017, a vet student named Lindsey found a tiny motherless ginger kitten laying on the side of the road. The kitten was taken to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in serious condition. She was sick, unable to eat on her own and was at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, Lindsey decided to take the cat home with her and cared for her. She even gave the poor kitty a new name, Smush.
At the foster house, Smush was provided medications for her upper respiratory infection. A month later, Smush grew stronger and began to eat on her own. Her upper respiratory infection was gone, and she was free from ringworm. The sweet kitty was recovering in foster care. She was healthy, playful and ready to find her forever home.
Luckily, Florida resident Shannon and Sarah submitted an application to adopt Smush. They saw the sweet kitten on a Facebook post and just knew she was meant to be with them. Smush officially joined the family and now she is enjoying her new life with his loving family – which includes three dogs, three cats and a hedgehog.
