Introducing Kefir!
This huge Maine Coon kitty lives with Yuliya Minina in Stary Oskol, Russia. He’s a year and 9 months old and already weighs a staggering 27 lbs.
Maine Coons generally stop growing when they are around three years old, so Kefir has still got some growing to do!
Yulia spotted Kefir at a cattery and fell in love with his beautiful white fur.
She chose the name Kefir because it means dairy drink and she feels describes his coat purr-fectly.
As soon as they were home Kefir refused to eat dry cat food so she only feeds him meat and natural feed.
She loves having this big kitty in her life but says one of the drawbacks is the amount of fur that he leaves all over the house. But he has truly become part of the family and will often sit by the table with them at dinner time.
“It’s funny how others react when they see the cat because it is huge. Many people think that it’s a dog at first.”
Yuliya added that Kefir has developed a habit to jump on her at night when she sleeps.
“He didn’t do that when he was smaller and it wouldn’t be that inconvenient, but now the cat became very big and heavy. It’s not that easy to sleep like that.”
“But in general, this is a super-smart cat. It weirdly can feel the general mood in the house. Kefir doesn’t meow, doesn’t yell, and doesn’t harm the furniture. A truly perfect cat.”
We think that Kefir is a beautiful kitty and hope that you feel the same.
