Samuel, an amiable black-and-white kitten, was rescued from a tiny container where he had spent the most of his existence. Samuel was brought to Houston’s BARC Animal Shelter, where he was severely emaciated. His eyelids were swollen shut due to mange, and he had a long list of costly medical concerns. He had pressure sores from being confined up, and his skin was peeling. A coworker who didn’t want Samuel’s life to end this way put a photo of him on the internet.

Leslie Raines, a veterinarian in the Houston area, was sick at home that day when she came across Samuel’s picture she immediately got up and decided to help her. Samuel soon settled into a foster home with Leslie Raines and the long road to rehabilitation began. Samuel’s thick black and white wool came months later, but he still had anxiety to face. Samuel became the wonderful, fluffy cat that was supposed to be in just one year.

The cat also has pressure wounds from being confined in a tiny place for an extended period of time.

Samuel transitioned from death row to a veterinary clinic.

Samuel progressively gained weight and restored his vision thanks to their kind care. He still needed to learn how to be a cat, though.

Samuel’s thick black and white fur came in months later, but he still had anxieties to face.

Samuel morphed into the lovely, fluffy cat he was supposed to be.

The cat was apprehensive about meeting potential adopters, but that changed when he met Bryan.
