Lisa Kitchen and her husband got their Maine Coon cat Max three years ago and never once has he shown his human mom affection, he had always been daddy’s cat.
He followed his dad everywhere and would cuddle up to him and nap on his chest.
“When we first initially got Max he instantly was attached to my husband,” Lisa explained. “He would curl up on his chest and fall asleep. He would meow for him to pick him up. Me, not so much.”
Max didn’t show Lisa any affection at all until one day she noticed a change in his behavior, she came home from work one day and Max meowing loudly at her.
He had never done this before – perhaps Max had noticed something different about Lisa.
And now every time he saw her it was as if he was begging for her attention.
After a few days and Lisa’s attempts to approach the feline, Max got super close to her. Then things got more peculiar when Max started to snuggle with her when she slept.
He began by sleeping by her legs and then moved on to sleeping on her stomach. By this time Lisa knew something was up so she took a test and discovered she was pregnant!
Now Max is always by her side and will meow for Lisa if she’s not around. It’s as if he’s trying to guard her belly and keep the baby inside safe and warm at all times.
What a wonderful story and a very intuitive kitty – way to go Max!
