It’s without a doubt that pets can be the best things that ever happen to us. Unfortunately, there are people in this world who refuse this joy and decide to abandon their pets. Good thing there are people who dedicate their lives to help those poor homeless animals in shelters around the world. One great example is the Muncie Animal Care & Services in Indiana, who help people adopt new pets and help find abandoned animals new forever homes.

Muncie Animal Care & Services teamed up with its local police to let citizens pay their fines by helping out abandoned kitties

Unfortunately the horrible truth is that there are more people willing to abandon a “problem” than try to solve it. As the Muncie cat shelter was starting to get overrun with stray cats and kittens, an unexpected partner emerged. The local police department decided to step in and help by offering local residents a unique opportunity. Instead of using money to pay their tickets, the police encouraged people to donate money or cat food to the Muncie Animal Care & Services shelter.

Both services took to social media to share this initiative, adding a list of things people can offer instead of paying off their parking violations. “Cat/kitten food, litter, wet/pate canned food, beds, blankets” were items that were highlighted.

The police officer even noted that those who are unable to drop the items off at the shelter or the police department may call their number to have a uniformed officer come over to pick up the donated items.

Although this was a limited offer it’s a wonderful initiative to help out shelters in need while encouraging people to donate. People on social media applauded this effort and wished for it to be a universal practice. Well, hopefully more cities will be encouraged to try this out!
